Thanks to a recent expansion, this popular budget Greek spot is now enormous (and takes credit cards and reservations) — but there’s still a mob scene at the hostess stand every night. Grab a cocktail at the bar up front and give seated diners the evil eye as you wait for a table, or, if you’re lucky, you’ll be escorted to the cozier downstairs, where you can graze on a selection of tangy spreads served with pita, succulent sheep’s milk dumplings with spicy sausage, juicy meatballs and a simply grilled moist branzino. The cooking is rustic, portions are plentiful and prices are unbelievably low. Noisy and lively, it’s best with a group, when you can order an assortment of dishes, forget about carrying on conversation, and nosh to your heart’s content.
