You can find several “authentic” barbecue joints in the city, but for one of the best, go to Williamsburg. At Fette Sau, there’s no table service—but that doesn’t stop hungry groups seated at communal picnic tables from chowing down on ribs, brisket, sausage, pork belly bacon and flank steak; most of the meat is so flavorful, the sauce is superfluous. Skip most of the bland sides, but definitely add on a handful of Guss’ half sour pickles. Wash it down with a truly impressive selection of bourbons; if you can’t decide on just one, try a whiskey flight to sample several at a time.
