Ferran Adrià

Ferran Adrià has been compared to Salvador Dali and Picasso of the food world. His restaurant in Spain, elBulli, is practically impossible to get into. A total of two million requests are made annually to dine at elBulli, but only 8,000 seats are available. Jerry Saltz, New York Magazine’s art critic was recently invited to elBulli. In the article, Saltz confessed that he knew little about food but compared the experience to an art performance. “Adrià seems to me a Picasso of food,” he proclaims. This October New Yorkers have two chances to meet Adrià. The first is an opportunity to experience his magic first hand at the Food Network New York City Wine and Food Festival, where he’ll be demonstrating the techniques behind some of his most creative dishes. The second is to hear Adrià speak at the New York Public Library where he will be promoting his new book, A Day at elBulli: An Insight into the Ideas, Methods and Creativity of Ferran Adria. These may be the only two chances you will get to hear or experience Ferran Adrià at work.
